Mechanicsburg, PA Eagle FC (9-1-1) took on Nova FC on Wednesday night in Leesburg for their final road trip of the regular season.
In the opening minutes of the game there was plenty of back and forth action from both teams testing each other’s defense. Eagle FC had great looks on goal from Justyce Hollenbach, Nia Christopher, Marthina Aguirre and Meg Tate. It wasn’t until the 30th minute when forward Courtney Butlion would find the goal keeper off of her line and put the ball away putting Eagle FC up 1-0.
The second half would be just like the first with multiple chances as Nova FC were continuing to look for the equalizer, however neither side was able to capitalize. Around the 90th minute Malene Nielson would make a crucial save keeping Eagle in the lead.
Eagle FC’s defense would get a clean sheet with outstanding performances from defender Carly Smith and goal keeper Nielsen. In the end Butlion’s first half goal would be the difference in giving Eagle FC all three points.
