Eagle FC Women (6-0-0) took on Charlottesville Blues FC (0-6-0) in Charlottesville, VA on Saturday night in-front of a tremendous crowd!
Eagle FC had a great start to the game opening the scoring in the 9th minute with a goal from Annika Huhta assisted by Meg Tate. Eagle FC continued to create opportunities through the midfield from Muriel Kroflin and finally broke through in the 18th minute. Phoebe Hollin had a great long-range attempt but ended up hitting the woodwork. Huhta was there for the rebound, netting her second for the night. As half-time approached Eagle FC had some great looks on goal from Meg Tate, Aminah Baruwa, Justyce Hollenbach and Cash Copley unfortunately none of them were able to find the back of the night ending the half with 2-0 lead.
Eagle FC picked up right where they left off before the break adding a third to their tally after a shot by Hollenbach was saved and Jamie Swartz was there to fire home the rebound past the diving Charlottesville Blues FC goalkeeper. In the 85th minute Swartz completes her brace, slotting a shot past the goalkeeper on a tremendous pass from Axelle Touzeau.
Goalkeepers Cassy Baker/Malene Nielsen and the Eagle FC backline kept a clean sheet for the fifth time this season.
Eagle FC Women will wrap up their final match of a 4-game road trip in Maryland against Christos FC on Wednesday, June 12, 2024. Kickoff will be 7:00 PM.
