Recognizing the need for more quality referees as vital to “Growing the Game” of soccer in Pennsylvania, Eagle FC has established a program that works with Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association (EPYSA) and Eastern Pennsylvania Soccer Association Referee Committee (EPSARC) to provide free referee courses here in Central Pennsylvania. In the fall of 2020, Eagle FC had 14 players participate in a local beginner referee course, enabling them to be eligible to ref our U8-U9 Futures games and our U10-U19 Recreation League games. Further inspired to train more inhouse referees and to help improve the state-wide referee shortage, Eagle FC applied for and was awarded a Grow the Game Grant from EPYSA to host EPSARC referee courses. The Grant has allowed us to be part of training 70 new referees since the spring of 2021. As part of the program, these referees earn experience in our Futures and Recreation Programs, allowing them to be more prepared before moving on to ref for travel leagues and competitive tournaments.
Saturday, February 17 – 3:00 – Mandatory “in person” meeting on the registration process and instructions. Meeting will be held at Sporting Hill Station Community Room. Parents of youth referees are highly encouraged to attend. Must bring a computer or tablet.
March 8 – All online course work and clearances must be complete. A referee uniform must be ordered – otherwise your spot in the field session will not be held and your application fee not refunded.
Saturday, March 23 – 9AM-4PM – Mandatory Classroom and Field Session
Fee: $110 (plus small processing fee) will be reimbursed when you have completed the course, sent in proof of certification, and completed 2 referee assignments through our Recreation and/or Futures Programs. Referee assignments are a paid position.
